Foot and mouth, haemorrhagic septicaemia and enterotoxaemia go through small herds every year, and the losses are almost always in animals that were not vaccinated in time.
The obstacles are practical rather than ignorance: cold chain, availability at the local centre, a vaccinator who turns up when it suits him, and the cost when you have eight animals rather than one.
What we want in this thread is the real, working calendar people follow:
- Which vaccines, at what age for young stock, and how often after that
- What you pay per dose, and where you buy
- Whether the government centre in your district is actually usable
- How you handle animals bought mid-season with no known history
