Sahiwal, Cholistani or a Holstein cross — what actually pays in Pakistan?

The crossbreeding argument has been running for decades. A Holstein cross gives more milk on paper. A Sahiwal survives the summer, walks further, gets sick less, and calves without help.

What people report in practice:

  • Crosses need better feed, better shade and better management, and they punish you for all three
  • Heat stress cuts a cross's yield hard in June and July, which is exactly when milk is worth most
  • Sahiwal and Cholistani yields are lower but far steadier, and the vet bill is smaller
  • Buffalo is a different calculation again, because the fat content changes what you are paid

If you are running a herd, small or large: which animals, what daily yield, what you spend on feed and medicine, and whether you would buy the same again. Numbers rather than opinions, if you have them.
