Deworming advice written for a dog in Manchester does not transfer to a dog that walks past three open drains a day.

The usual starting point: puppies every two weeks from two weeks old until twelve weeks, then monthly until six months, then every three months for life. Dogs with heavy exposure -- street walks, eating things off the ground, other dogs in the house -- get done more often.

Tablets people find here include Drontal Plus and Praferan, both widely available and cheap.

What we would like to collect in this thread:

  • Your dog's age, and how often you deworm
  • Which product, and whether you weigh the dog first or guess
  • Whether your vet recommended something different, and their reasoning

Guessing the dose on a growing puppy is where people go wrong, in both directions.
